Abstract
This essay aims to show how paths of images and figurative scenes have a special way in Leopardi's Canti. They follow an independent route, sometimes tangential but often separated from metaphorical and other figurative aspects. This autonomy suggests an indication about images types, scenes function, subjects and idyll development in Leopardi's poetry. This allows to understand the fundamental role of syntax in Leopardi's poetry.
