Abstract
Niccolò Scaffai, The essay analyses Il sogno del prigioniero, the last poem in the third Eugenio Montale's poetry collection (La bufera e altro, 1956), identifying different levels: the historical one, connected to the Cold War period; the biographical one, which involves Montale's affair with Irma Brandeis (Clizia); the third one, based on a widespread literary subject, such as the theme of the prisoner. The essay focuses some new sources of Montale's poems, by the analysis of modern literature and cinema.
