Abstract
Giorgio Voghera, a writer from Trieste, translated the first work of Hasidic Judaism, "Likkutei Amarim" ("Tanya"), from Hebrew into Italian through a preexisting English version. The essay analyses this process of re-translation or second-hand translation and aims to show that it is the result of a sophisticated practice.
