Abstract
Here I describe the significance of my first research experience with Domenico Parisi and his research group in Roma in the early 1990s when we studied the emergence of categoriziation in Econets, which are sensory-motor neural networks situated in an environment. I also describe unexpected results on the emergence of communication with Econets and how, 30 years later, I can finally explain them after conducting research on the evolution of altruism with evolutionary biologists in Switzerland
