Abstract

The scientific activity of Valentino Braitenberg, as a real master of research, is outlined, paying attention to his constant interest for general scientific questions, and particularly to his capacity of deeply affording different subjects of research with the goal of finding the connections among structure, function, and behaviour, by applying both an uphill analysis of behaviour in order to gain hints on the cerebral structure responsible for it, and a downhill invention in order to read the behaviour in the structure itself.
