Abstract
As for the interpretation of Maurice Halbwachs's (the founder of Sociology of memory) work and thinking, the most important news in recent years is represented by Gérard Namer's work on original manuscripts of Halbwachs. Namer has collected his work in three main books: the critical editions of "Les cadres sociaux de la mémoire" (1994) and of "La mémoire collective" (1997), and the most recent work on "Halbwachs et la mémoire sociale" (2000), where Halbwach's complete intellectual path and theoretical framework is well-explained. Starting from a cross-reading of these three texts, this article offers an overview of the French debate in-progress about Sociology of memory analysing some recent Italian issues too.
