Abstract
The main argument exposed in the article is the pervasiveness of organizations in the social construction of information and communication technologies and of the computer mediated communication. The relationship between old economy and digital economy is illustrated in the light of the recent debate on glocalization, community of practices, virtual community and the interaction between humans and non-human elements in organizations. By adopting an aesthetic approach to the study of organizational life, in the essay hypertext is discussed both as a model to design new organizational structures, and as a metaphor which evokes the diversity of relations between the individual and the organization.
