Abstract
The challenge of work-life balance is nowadays one of the most relevant aspects to which companies are committed to prevent conflicts. The present study explains how the «non-use paradox» of work-life balance services is articulated in a sector with high contractual and labor protection conditions, the electricity sector in Italy, in which one would expect a greater use of corporate welfare services. A survey conducted in 2014 in collaboration with the CISL FLAEI reached a sample of 5,704 workers. The results show that, despite the high protection of the sector, there is still a scene of not using conciliation services, even in cases of family burden. The main reasons can be traced back to different aspects linked both to the choices of workers, partially aligned with the work devotion schema, and to external factors linked to company organization and access to information on the corporate welfare system.
