Abstract
The aim of this paper is to present the figure of professor Giannino Parravicini as a public banker, as a civil servant in public institutions, and as a scientist and teacher in the field of public finance, monetary economics, credit, and finance. During his long life (1910-2001), Parravicini covered many important appointments. In fact, he was adviser of the Italian Central Bank, president of the "Medio Credito Centrale", president of the "Banco di Sicilia", president of the Italian Banking Association, vice-president of the Italian "Encyclopaedia Treccani ", president of the "Ente Einaudi". He was also full professor in Public Finance at the Universities of Pavia, Florence, and Milan. Then, he moved to Rome, where he had the chair of Monetary Economics. Thus, Parravicini devoted himself to the scientific community and to his country, working in a period longer than seventy years, inspired to a common ideal: to improve the country where we live with the care and with the faith of the men of good will. Parravicini did it, with genuine passion and success.
