Abstract
The Director of "l'industria" examines the main challenges that the review has to face in the next few years and the editorial lines that he intends to develop in order to face them. The first problem is connected with the "evaluation" process which has started in the Italian Universities and is based mainly on the "impact factor" of the various academic journals. This approach favours the articles published on English and American Journals and penalizes those written in other languages. "l'industria" will try to find ways out of this blind alley, developing solutions for spreading around the results of the research work carried out by the Italian scholars. A second problem is related to the lack of attention to the industrial structure, its evolution and its future, that affects Italian academics and opinion leaders and as a consequence of this, we do not know what is really happening in our industrial system and are unable to find the policies most suitable for filling the gaps of productivity. "l'industria" intends to reopen the debate on these issues, promoting studies concerning these aspects and involving a growing number of young scholars.
