Abstract

This paper presents the main security measures used by many international retailers to prevent thefts, and distinguishes the effects on retailer, manufacturing and customers. This qualitative research study is based on direct experience of Checkpoint Systems, a global leader in shrinkage management and indirect testimony of additional business experiences. The solutions analyzed allow retailers to improve product display and customer service and to optimize the internal efficiency of the stores by reducing costs and times, while producers improve visual branding and efficiency. In addition, investments in technological development and source tagging give stores adequate security levels without interfering with customer shopping experience.
