Abstract

The essay analyzes in a critical way the intellectual roots of the Law and Economics movement. In this perspective the A. reconstructs the reasons and successive steps that have led to the establishment of complex and close links between economic and juridical sciences. In discussing the approaching of the two disciplines the A. surveys in turn the evolution of the North American antitrust legislation, the role of the Chicago School and finally the fundamental contribution by Ronal Coase. The essay links together the original Dna of the methodology with the reasons of the reciprocal benefits for both social sciences. As a result a clear picture emerges together with an authoritative invitation to work along these lines that nowadays appear to be particularly fruitful.
