Abstract
The global financial crisis of 2007-2008 has shown that the risks for the financial system stem not only from the banking sector, but also from the insurance one. The paper aims to illustrate how insurance contracts influence the insurance enterprises and, more specifically, the systemic riskiness of the latter. We analyze in particular some differences between insurance and bank risks, together with the related supervisory issues, in order to understand some future perspectives.
