Abstract
Starting from the assumption that legal norms that are not properly enforced rarely fulfil their objectives, this research contains some policy suggestions designed to improve and foster the functioning of global financial governance in terms of capacity, legitimacy, accountability, and the authority of the bodies involved to promote worldwide compliance with international financial rules. The challenge of this work is to propose a global financial governance model capable of hardening the soft nature of international financial law by granting it the supervisory powers needed to concretely bring the regulatory solution to the «financial trilemma» of the world economy about.
