Abstract

Starting from an analysis of the documentation on the trial of Giordano Bruno, this paper investigates his ideas on animal dignity and the relation between human and animal conditions. Attention is given to the role that the concept of the Great Chain of Being and those of World Soul, Infinite, Magic, and Nature play for Bruno’s positions on the two topics.
