Abstract

After some preliminary explanations on the concept of standard of proof, the author focuses on the diachronic evolution of the following criteria: «beyond a reasonable doubt» and moral certainty. In the subsequent part, the author analyzes the critical remarks recently made against these classical standards, normally employed in drafting a ruling, and reconstructs the complex debate developed in the last years about standards of proof.
