Abstract

Some important theorists of anti-speciesism strongly believe that law, basically, is a malign social science, conceived for enabling the exploitation and killing of non-human animals. This article conveys an opposite perspective: law is one of the best tools in our hands for protecting non-human animals. Terrible conditions in which the latter are nowadays confined are not due to the law, but are rather depending upon an acritical adoption of the rules of the Western consumerist societies, as well as upon the scarce spreading of some virtuous model, deeply rooted somewhere in the Eastern culture.
