Abstract

Seventy years after Ashley Montagu's battle for abolition of the concept of «race», some European countries have abolished the concept from their legal norms, whereas in others proposals have been submitted for its legal abolition. The paper analyzes these proposals from the analytical-linguistic perspective. The aim is to clarify whether this operation is «mere» terminological or can be framed within the boundaries of a more incisive «question of word», doomed to performatively shape reality according to specific values.
