Abstract
The expression «digital citizenship» is used more and more often, but with different meanings: as an updated version of civic education, to teach an aware and appropriate use of technologies; to highlight how ICT can simplify the activities of citizens and businesses and improve public services; to indicate the transformation of the relationship between the individual and the powers – public and private, with particular attention to the impact on fundamental rights. The use of digital shapes reality and, consequently, questions the content and the very notion of citizenship
