Abstract
Among the causes that may have led to the rather lukewarm relationship Italians have with their Constitution and to the subsequent disconnect between the values of the Constitution and our republican identity, the instability of the Italian form of government has contributed to absorbing public debate to the point of relegating the Constitution to the background. Hence, the cost of a weakly rationalised of government is the deprivation of the Constitution itself and its values of the public space necessary for its civil roots. A stability culture, therefore, is a prerequisite for true constitutional patriotism.
