Abstract
The text treats the following issues: European integration as a struggle for a 'new approach to normative law'; the constitutional sense of the 'fight for hegemony' in the formation of EU law; the three preliminary theoretical conditions for use of the expression 'fight for hegemony' in the analysis of the process of European integration; restructuring and extension of the 'battlefield'; 'European social reality'; democratic constitutional theory and European social transformation: the two theoretical models most widespread in the literature concerning this relation; the critical/communicative approach; the neo-institutionalist approach; before and after the 'fight for hegemony'.
