Abstract
Taking a cue from the recent proposal for an amendment of the German Basic Law, which aims at eliminating the word «race», the article examines the issue in the framework of the Italian legal system. The author analyses, in particular, advantages and risks of an amendment aimed at eliminating the aforementioned word from art. 3 of the Italian Constitution, highlighting the problems raised by the amendment of a constitutional provision that expresses a supreme principle.
