Abstract
Departing from the contents of Law No. 92/2019, which reintroduced the teaching of civic education in schools, the contribution aims to reflect on the idea of the Constitution that characterizes the reform. The analysis of the features of the new subject is functional to outline the vision of the Fundamental Charter promoted by the lawmaker. Emerging critical issues concern, in particular, the transmission of a partial content of the Constitution, the devaluation of teachers’ training, and the lack of financial resources to implement the law. These elements are placed in relation to the freedom of teaching and the social function of schools.
