Abstract
In this four-voice symposium, three authors comment on the book L’Italia e la sua Costituzione by Raffaele Romanelli (Laterza, Roma-Bari, 2023), who replies in the last entry. The central point – on which different opinions are presented – is whether and in what terms the Constitution has managed to overcome the deep and multiple fractures of the country, take root in it, and generate institutions capable of providing unitary and effective political leadership, fostering a sense of attachment to the Republic and a culture of rights and freedoms. Several questions are addressed to the book’s author, including how the European integration process has interacted with this development, particularly in light of the crisis fronts it is currently facing.
