Abstract
Over the past decade, both scholars and those charged with the task of easing social and political conflict have rediscovered the discipline of constitutional design. This has been the case not only in democracies but also-and most significantly for present purposes-in nations struggling to move toward democratization. Here, Reynolds discusses the art or science of designing constitutions that can benefit from the insights and methods that undergird the arts and sciences of medical diagnosis and therapy.
