Abstract
The essay explores the factors that influence the Constitutional Court's evolutionary interpretation of the Italian Constitution and affect the self-understanding of the Court's role. Comparative perspectives, scientific accomplishments and social changes are keyfactors that push the interpretation of the Constitution towards new balances of rights and interests.
