Abstract
As part of the training course organized prior to the introduction in the Naples city administration of a network of Offices for Relations with the Public (Uffici per le Relazioni con il Pubblico, URPs), a series of in-the-field experiments have been conducted in the use of multimedia interactive technologies. The aim of these experiments is to construct a model for the re-organization of internal and external communication processes on a multimedia platform. The essay examines theoretical-analytical questions as well as practical aspects connected with the introduction of a more efficient system of organizational practices. This institutional innovation, prompted amongst other things by the new communication technologies, is based on similar efforts to introduce reforms at every organizational level of the State, although local factors are particualrly active. Great importance is assumed by the training of public-sector personnel. The simulation conducted with the personnel involved in setting up the URP network also aimed to create a re-invented work context.
