Abstract

The aim of this paper is to re-reading one of the masters of sociological thought in the light of today’s society: Pitirim A. Sorokin. But reading Sorokin, today, to recognize his relevance, means framing his thought in the historical reality lived by the scholar by briefly outlining his biographical profile. Subsequently, the attention turns to analyze Sorokin’s theories on social changes and the crisis of society, through the examination of his works where these reflections are analytically presented: The Crisis of Our Age, Man and Society in Calamity, and The Reconstruction of Humanity. In these three books, in addition to the concept of crisis, there is a focus on the possible means and ways by which actions of individuals transform in order to reconstruct humanity that is experiencing a profound crisis.
