Abstract

"Méxicoleaks" is a whistleblowing platform that has become a new interactive tool for Mexican journalism. The platform was originally established with the goal of fighting corruption, safeguarding sources and supporting freedom of expression. Media convergence (interactivity and transmedial narration of contents) and collective intelligence (participation of old and new actors which are inserted in the crossmedial productive routine) are the very specific features at the core of functioning and organization of such platform. In this article, by analyzing how news is created and by observing the role of "convergent journalists" involved in the project, I argue that the emergence of "Méxicoleaks" has changed newsmaking habits within Mexican news ecosystem.
