Abstract
The Covid pandemic has triggered severe social and economic crisis in many sectors. Some of these, such as live performance exhibitions, have been particularly affected in the light of previous structural fragilities. However, the effects of covid crisis have persuaded Italian institutions to pay more attention than ever to the sector. Although during the first phase of the emergency support measures have been concentrated on providing subsides to partially recover economic losses, during the second half of 2021 legislative action has been focused on implementing specific structural reforms. The reform path has been inspired by the final report of the fact-finding study, conducted by the VII Committee of the Italian Chamber of Deputies, on work and welfare conditions in live performance sector. The final report has shown how the Italian welfare system is far away from intercepting real needs of live performance workers and has suggested several reform proposals based on the recognition of specific work conditions, such as the structural discontinuity of work activities. Many of these proposals have been already adopted by the Italian Parliament while others, at the moment, are still in discussion to complete the reform path.
