Abstract

The history of the Teatro dell’Argine (Bologna, Italy) is one of a theatre group who is active with several actions and projects on the border between art, culture, education and social, involving every year thousands of people of many different ages, cultures, and backgrounds on a local, national and international level. This natural inclination of working in a hybrid way, creating hybrid projects in hybrid spaces, has determined, on the one hand, the design and implementation of participatory projects of active citizenship, that explore contemporary hot issues through the arts, and try to foster the participation and wellbeing, through different means, of as many people as possible. On the other hand, this attitude of working in the trans-dimension (disciplinary – sectoral – cultural – generational – national…) has brought the group in touch with many international theatre companies, organizations, institutions, platforms, calls and foundations who put the artsfor-change mantra at the heart of their mission and guidelines. From San Lazzaro di Savena and Bologna metropolitan area to the international dimension, the road is one of cultural and social inclusion, through theatre and the arts, always ready to change and innovate, beyond any preconceived pattern and format
