Abstract

The Cammini/Paths represent the connection between different settlements of the territory and are an effective tool to network the villages, making them usable especially for the emerging demand for slow tourism. To them – representing a decisive antidote for the congestion of the most popular cultural tourism destinations – the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Tourism (in the nomenclature of the time) has dedicated the year 2016. In the European definition the paths are «historical and cultural routesµ, therefore something more than the more traditional mountain paths. A case of excellence in Italy, in addition to the most famous «Via Francigenaµ, is the «Via degli Dei» on the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines. Other Paths concern the connection between territories specialized in the realization of particular products such as the Silk and Wool Road. Religious routes such as the Way of Francis or the Way of St Benedict, whose use is motivated both by cultural and religious reasons, are also very successful. In short, through the slow tourism of the Paths, you can contribute to the rebirth of the villages.
