Abstract
The copyright law protects every kind of creative work belonging to the field of literature, music, figurative arts, architecture, theatre and cinema. In such a context, piracy has become a real business, with international features (for example, the use of Internet) and it influences quite seriously Italian economy. Police experience suggests that this phenomenon, especially at a certain level, cannot be considered a criminal activity which affect only the rich majors, offering an alternative chance of working. Particularly, it is the organised criminality which plays a central and direct role in the field of piracy, earning enormous amount of money, subsequently recycled in other criminal activities, socially perceived as more dangerous (arms and drug taffic, smuggling, children exploitation, ecc.).
