Abstract
The Italian government play a relevant role in enhancing and supporting Cultural relationships within troubled international contexts. Among the actions carried out both multilateral co-operation and bilateral scientific and technologic co-operation offer a wide room for Cultural interventions in the developing or transition Countries. Within the UNESCO agenda, our Country is specifically committed in supporting the conservation of tangible and intangible heritage, as well as the protection of Cultural diversity. Italy is also involved in a special co-operation program with UNESCO related to urgent action in areas of war and conflict, where heritage appears to be particularly at risk. The General Direction for Cultural Promotion and Cooperation supports a variety of special projects in the fields of research, training, exchanges, etc., in a high number of Countries of all continents. Within such a wide range of activities, a special effort is aimed at archaeologic missions in the Mediterranean basin, focusing upon the Greek-Roman period.
