Abstract

The Beijing Platform for Action Section J ‘Women and Media Diagnosis’ recommendations addressed gender equality and media development issues in their intersections. Considering these two aspects, in different geo-cultural contexts and societal sectors, is crucial towards achieving all goals of the Agenda for Sustainable Development. This articles invites a critical reading of the 2030 Agenda to see if and how the issues addressed in Section J are acknowledged in a framework, the Agenda, which provides guidance to governments and other stakeholders for the years to come. Focus is brought into Goals 5, 9 and 16.
