Abstract
In recent decades, especially after the growth of neoliberal thought, social policies against poverty encouraged social workers to use activation strategies. The essay offers a contribution to the discussion about this issue through a study of the international literature; it suggests a modelling of the activation concept; and utilizes it to analyse the findings of a qualitative research about how social workers are influenced in their practice by neoliberal thinking.
