Abstract
Recognising and giving space to children’s agency is a discussed and complex issue in the context of the child protection. The relationship with the social worker can play a crucial role in opening spaces for participation: however, it is necessary a change of mentality and attitude by professionals. The training project presented in this article aims at improving the relation between children who have been in care (care leavers) and social workers. It is an emotionally intense experience for all participants and aims precisely at questioning ideas and prejudices that often guide the professional practice.
