Abstract

The article provides an assessment of the Citizen’s Income (Reddito di Cittadinanza – RdC) in Naples and Campania, with particular attention to the intervention’s governance and the profiles of beneficiaries. In light of its abolition and the introduction of the Inclusion Allowance (Assegno di inclusione – Adi) and the Support for Training and Employment (Supporto per la Formazione e il Lavoro – Sfl), the contribution aims to offer a comprehensive reflection on the measure, analyzing the factors that could influence the transition to the new policy formulated by the national government. Evaluating the effects of the RdC design on targeting through the construction of data related to applicants and eligible individuals allows us to examine not only the characteristics of the user base in the region where the highest number of recipient households is concentrated but also the challenges faced by territorial actors in management and take-up, providing a critical outlook towards the future challenges of implementing the new income support tools.
