Abstract
This paper documents how home care for the non self-sufficient elderly is undergoing a transformation in our country and consequently, also the intergenerational solidarity between adult daughters and their very elderly parents is changing. These women do not care for their elderly parents by themselves, but they share their burden with other actors. In the writer's opinion, a research focusing on the practices of home care and the changes within intergenerational relationships between adult daughters and their very elderly mothers, would provide an understanding of how the lives of these women are changing and how their role within the domestic setting and family network is being modified. The proposed theory is that adult women are being increasingly protracted out of the domestic setting and less available to be assistants and nurses of their parents.
