Abstract
The article considers the perspectives on work-life balance at the core of the European Pillar of social rights for 2017-2025, and the proposal for a new Directive on measures for work-life balance for parents and carers. The critical analysis on the two European Documents is discussed also in the light of the Italian «good practices» to reconcile family and work in a gendered perspective. Proposals for research on new issues are advanced addressing the challenges of the ongoing European crisis.
