Abstract
It has been almost twenty years since vouchers and budgets entered the Italian care sector with the promise of revolutionising care services in the name of personalisation. The article focuses on their implementation in Italy and the aim is that of critically analysing the debate that has since developed. The analysis will highlight how different ways of signifying person-centred-practices can result in different applications of the vouchers and budgets model and how they all entail promises but also risks.
