Abstract
The paper focuses on the Italian academic debate concerning the introduction of the main dimensions of activation policies: conditionality, contracting and personalisation. Their penetration in the Italian legislation is described according to the Italian sociological and labour law literature, until the introduction of the Citizens’ Income. From the debate emerge how, despite the diffusion of activation dimensions in the Italian legislation, scholars’ concerns relate to the ability of the Italian public employment service to implement labour market policies.
