Abstract
Traditionally linked to war and violence, the long-neglected genre of battle speech has been drawing researchers’ attention again since a few years. Focusing on the rhetorical analysis of such kind of speeches, the present paper tries to highlight a specific feature, through ancient literary examples and modern speeches: the use visualisation and images of violence through discourse.
