Abstract
This paper examines how restraint is managed in the political world and how it is undermined. Between “holdingµ and “restraintµ and “controlledµ outbursts for strategic purposes, whether passionate and/or cognitive, mastery of the limits of social ways of being and deviations from them constitute a classic lever for governing societies. In this study, we explore the tensive deployment of “holdingµ between "restraint", "retention", "relaxation" and "release" to show how these tensive positions play a role in managing forms of power
