Abstract

The essay explores the historical and literary context of the Viceregal court of Spanish Naples in the early sixteenth century where the Cariteo’s Pasca was written. The paper also introduces some considerations about the last period of Cariteo’s biography that could be helpful for a new annotated and critical edition of his work. In addition, the examination of a letter signed by Cariteo in 1508 offers a new profile of the Catalan author and it reveals his importance in the international relationship between Spain and Italy.
