Abstract

Working with a sample of political activists and students (N = 922), surveyed in the early 2000s, we analysed the relationships between right-wing authoritarianism (RWA), social dominance orientation (SDO) and their interaction on the one hand and militancy in Forza nuova (FN), an Italian neo-fascist party, and in other Italian parties, on the other. The main predictor of militancy in FN was a right-wing political placement, followed by RWA and SDO, while the interaction between RWA and SDO was only weakly associated with FN membership. The strong points, the weaknesses and the implications of this study are discussed.
