Abstract
This study was focused on value transmission in families with adolescents and it intended to analyze the conditions that could promote parent-child value similarity. The two-step model of value acquisition (Grusec and Goodnow, 1994; Zentner and Renaud, 2007) was applied in the present study. Participants were 381 family triads (adolescents, and both their parents); subjects filled in the Portrait Values Questionnaire (Schwartz, 2005). Results revealed that value transmission is a very complex process and a number of conditions are needed in order to attain parent-child value similarity.
