Abstract

This paper describes a study on the topic of work and family role transitions. Specifically, the purpose of the research is to understand, through the narratives of twenty executives, how the issue of balancing work and family life may emerge from the interrelationship between career and family transitions in a dual time framework: life course and everyday life. The analysis of interviews, made by ALCESTE, found six clusters grouped into two macrocategories: work transitions concerning career in public sector and companies, and family transitions which denote the experience of being a parent in relation to family and gender roles.
