Abstract
This essay discusses the constitutional basis of environmental and climate protection in Italy, where efforts towards environmentalism still remain weak and lukewarm. After the rocky path in fighting against climate change by the Italian legislation, the progress of some case laws regarding climate matters is illustrated. The author discusses in particular the contents of the so called “Last Judgmentµ case recently brought against the Italian government to curtail carbon dioxide emissions. Some new hypotheses are also highlighted about alternative paths which could be followed. The year 2021 could be a turning point for Italy on these matters, after the Draghi government takes office
