Abstract
The article is aimed at describing the evolution and the current status of the rights of same-sex couples in Italy. It will utilise an historical perspective to illustrate the role of the Italian and European judges in affirming the rights of same-sex couples. A comparative perspective, indeed, can help in assessing the future developments of the discipline in Europe and, more specifically, in Italy.
